How Weapons Assisted In Man's Prevalence
Different kinds of blades are common items in our kitchen pantry storage. Although these cutters seem to be very safe, they are quite useful. They are used as common items to cut and chop vegetables and other things. Life without them would not be as easy as it is right now. However, one fact is hard to realize that these blades in a pantry cabinet come from a family of tools infamous for their callous and vicious usage.
Long before man actually started to eat a wonderfully cut and presented salad, he learned to survive by killing beasts and other enemies. Those were truly the days of survival of the strongest. What assisted him in being tougher than bigger and stronger creatures was his talent to invent. He made safe shelters, he made traps and, most importantly, he made weapons. The tools not only allowed him protect himself and his family, they also assisting in finding food. It is one surprising fact that the first weapon ever found is also one of the oldest tools ever found. However, this strictly doesn’t suggest that man’s nature was always violent. In fact, this proves that being alive and survival has always been the main concern of a man.
The very first kinds of weapons ever discovered are of centuries before the metal age. These wooden clubs and pointed stones show that they were once being used as a weapon to take someone’s life. Most of the oldest weapons were piercing ones, for instance, a wooden throwing spear of about 400,000 years ago was discovered. Using heat to harden the tools started in around 250,000 ago. Stone was taken over by copper during the Copper age, and that was shortly taken over by bronze. In the Bronze Age, came blades and durin g this time the very first type of swords were made. These were so famous that even the iron swords were considered superior for a long time. Around 1200 BC, the Africans developed new methods to make iron swords sharper and swifter and during the same time, battering ram and cavalries were already developed and warfare was common.
The Romans, Egyptians and Greeks began training their armies along with many weapons, chariots, cavalry and ships andby the middle ages, many techniques of using weapons were developed. Swords, spears and bows were used in battle according to the situation and distance between enemies and in the meantime, Arabs and Indian warriors also, gained a superior edge in sword making and swordsmanship.
By the 16th century, TNT revolutionized the history of weapons, and cannons took place of most of the siege weapons. Although various kinds of firearms were developed in different regions in different times, guns as we know them nowadays were invented in England. The Puckle gun, invented in 1718 is famous for being the oldest gun and later, paved way to further improved versions and eventually, turned into revolvers and rifles. Currently, guns being used are mostly automatic and are far more accurate and lethal. Electric guns and nuclear weapons are also a newer revolution in time. Yet, despite all these, swords and daggers still remain one of the preferred weapons in history.
